-Knotty Pines Kabino, Island Park, Idaho: Cabin review-

Cabin review
Date stayed: May, 2018

Knotty Pines is a beautiful cabin in Island Park, Idaho. The cabin is a few miles away from the main road and the roads were not well developed when we were there but that added to the raw, being in the middle of no-where feeling which we loved.

What I liked about the cabin

  • Ambiance: Raw, rustic, wooden cabin in the middle of the woods. The decor of the cabin was well thought out. We really loved the bear salt and pepper shakers, moose toilet paper holders, cat racks etc.
  • Price: We got this cabin for under $800 for 3 nights which was a steal compared to the other cabins in the area. The price increases as you stay closer to the Yellowstone National Park.
  • Amenities: The cabin has a well equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, nice fireplace, lots of board games and a nice collection of DVDs. You can keep yourself entertained on a rainy day
  • Free Trash Service: When we were searching for cabins in the Island Park area, we realized that they all have 'pack out your trash' policy where we have to throw away our trash at the designated areas(which were a little away from the cabins) before we checked out. But Kabino properties provided free trash pickup service which definitely saved us time and effort
  • Backyard: Large backyard with a campfire and seating around it. The cabin also has a small play area with a swing

What I did not like about the cabin

  • Location: If you are looking to stay near Yellowstone National Park, then this cabin is little far away for you. It takes about 45 minutes drive from the cabin to reach the West entrance of the national park.
  • Bathrooms: The official website advertises 2 bathrooms but in reality it is just 1 full bathroom and one half bath. Having only one shower for 7-8 guests was really inconvenient.
  • Bedrooms: Again the number of bedrooms is wrongly advertised on the official website. Only 2 bedrooms available with a queen and a full bed. Others are sofa beds.
  • Internet Connection: Slow, barely there connectivity. But it was a relief to be away from technology for a while
