-Norway in a Nutshell Tour: Pros and Cons-

Self guided fjord tour from Bergen...

When visiting Norway, the first touristy thing we wanted to do was to see the fjords, the most famous being the Nærøyfjord which is also one of the most narrow fjords in Europe.

We booked our 'Norway in a nutshell' tour via fjordstours website starting our tour from Bergen. Here is the list of pros and cons of taking the fjordstour based on our experience.

Pros
1. When we tried to book tickets from Flam to Myrdal through the Flam Railway official website, it was sold out. It seems we have to book months in advance to get the tickets for the popular Flam Railway route. But fjordstours had tickets to the Flam Raiway through one of their fjords tours. By booking through them, we got to experience the Flam Railway along with the famous Nærøyfjord.

2. This is the perfect tour to experience the beauty of Norway if you have very little time in the country. In one day, we got to experience the beautiful scenery, the dramatic fjords and the breathtaking waterfalls of Norway.

3. If there are any cancellations in the bus/train, the tour company would help with the alternative transportation.

Cons
1. Very little time between each transfers. We hardly got a chance to explore the quaint little villages on the way or meet locals.

2. Tours are not guided. So basically they just give you the train/bus/cruise tickets and a map and you are on your own. (We did not mind this as we don't like large tour groups, but we had to do little bit of research in advance and prepare for the trip).

3. Cost of the same tour would be much cheaper if you book the tickets on your own. You can also be flexible with the timings. But you will have to book the tickets few months in advance.
