-Bragdavellir Cottages, Iceland-

Bragdavellir Cottage is located on a private property in the remote corner of South-East Iceland. The nearest town, Djúpivogur, is about 13 kms away.

Iceland is one of the most expensive countries to travel. Summer months of July and August are busiest with over a million tourist landing on this island and hence accommodations are very expensive and fill up very fast.

We started looking for places to stay two months in advance and found this pretty cottage close to the Ring Road. This was way above our budget and cost $265 but as we could not find any hotels in South East, we had to settle for this (and aren't we glad we did it).

The property has 6 cottages and a barn. The barn houses sheep, horses and other animals. From the cottage you get an amazing view of the green field, lagoon and hills. There is a hiking trail which leads to a waterfall.

The living room has a IKEA style sofa bed which can be made into a queen size bed for extra guests.

The small kitchen is well equipped with Microwave, stove, fridge, toaster and dishes.

Only problem with the bedroom is that it does not have a closet or any space to hang your clothes. Not even enough space to store the suitcase.

All the cottages face North East which is excellent for viewing Northern Lights from the warmth of the cabin.

I give 4.5 stars (out of 5) for this lovely cottage.
