Exploring Lake Tahoe and surrounding areas in Winter
Winter Sports: Donner Pass
Lake Tahoe is famous for ski and snow sports in Winter. As a result, most of the Ski Resorts get really crowded and far too expensive. If you want a less crowded option, check out the Donner Pass ski area.
If you are looking for snow boarding or sledging or kids snow play area, pick the mountain right next to the Donner Pass Rest Area on i80. It is free :-).
Squaw Valley Resort
Squaw Valley Resort is one of the famous Ski Resort on the west side of Lake Tahoe. It is a mini city and has everything you will need on your vacation. A great ski mountain, ski and snow boarding rentals, Dining and Lodging, Gondola rides and Shopping.
Snow Capped mountains and frozen lake
Lake Tahoe is as impressive in winter as it is in summer. You may not see the brilliant blue shade of the lake, but the calm water and surrounding snow capped mountains gives a very happy and peaceful vibe.
Enjoy the evenings strolling on the streets of Tahoe City with a view of the lake.
