You might have seen this plane wreck in the SRK-Kajol song "Gerua".

From past two years, I have seen this plane wreck pop up on my Instagram feed. Initially I did not think it was anything special. But as I read about its remote location on the beautiful black Solheimasandur beach I got interested and decided to add it to our itinerary when we visited Iceland.


In Iceland, most of the signs are in Icelandic which is sometimes difficult to read. It is slightly difficult to find this place if you do not know where to look. Fortunately, I followed the instructions provided on a different blog (Link here) and could find the place easily.

It is a 4 kms walk to the wreckage on a flat trail. Not too difficult to walk but it can get windy, rainy and cold depending on the season and time of the day.

We walked for 1.5 hrs overall and spent about 10 minutes at the location. We could have spent more time and got some sunset shots but we were tired and hungry and wanted to save our energy for the other places in Iceland.
